Default GAP IID Tool Key Fob Programming

I recently purchased a 2016 LR4 and I’m attempting to program a new key fob using the GAP IID Tool (G3 Bluetooth).

Has anyone run into the error “This version of the key module may need to be unlocked. Contact GAP.”? That’s followed by the error “Operation Failed E9”.

I believe that means the gap is vin locked to another vehicle. They will read codes on all of them but programming requires a license for that specific vin

They have top notch customer service though so definitely reach out to confirm

i'll second that. GAP has great customer service. Patrick at GAP walked me through updating my GAP IID tool so I could program an extra key last week. very responsive via email.

GAP got back to me the next day and sent me a few additional files to reflash the KVM module through the tool. Now my key is working - excellent!
