Default Keys Lost - LR Roadside Assistance No Help

1. Land Rover Roadside Assistance (LRRA) sucks IMO. At least they did today. They never arrived and never called me back after their preferred towing company cancelled. Lots of automated messages and phone calls from HQ. But no Roadside Assistance.

2. Don't believe LRRA - the LR4 doesn't need to go to the dealer to be opened (if the spare key is inside the truck). Someone on Land Rover Forums mentioned a "deadbolt" that closes when the car detects tampering. Not on the LR4.

3. AAA rocks. They arrived in 15 minutes with 2 trucks and a set of tools. The door was opened in 2 minutes.

4. Always remember to apologize to your wife when she loses the primary key with the spare in the car. It beats apologizing for saying the first thing that comes to your mind like "how the hell did you manage to lose a 3 lb set of keys and why the hell is the spare in the change cup?" I'm a slow learner - it only took 17 years of marriage to get that right.

The dead bolt function they were speaking of is called superlock. It disables the interior door release when activated. dont recall if lr4 has that option or not, but if it does you need to press the lock button twice in 2 seconds to activate it. Even if was superlocked the dealer has no majic tools that I'm aware of except ordering a key blade.

I am pretty sure the post I was referring to said the truck could actuate the deadbolt if it detected tampering. And LRRA definitely said the car must be towed to the dealer.

Not sure sure how my shoes got into the thread. But as I mentioned, my wife lost the keys after locking the spare inside. Do you read much? LOL

Just thought it was funny that you reference its easier for you to apologize to your wife when she lost the keys.
I've been married 23 years and I swear my wife just tries to convince me that I'm nuts. I have to ask her if she knows where I left my shoes, when
I know damn well that she threw them somewhere. Thought you might have had a similar experience...

anyways glad you got everything sorted

In a nutshell there are still 2 levels of locking

1) Single locking
This is where only the outside locks are activated when the plip lock button is pressed once.

2) Double locking or (superlock as I suggested)
This is where the outside and inside locks are activated when the plip lock button is pressed 2 time in 3 seconds.

...and you can't double lock your vehicle with a valid smart key inside

I pm'd you with some more detailed info. I hope it clears things up.

Cheers
