My left rear storage box by the third row seat smells pretty bad. Anyone have a clue about what would make it smell. I don’t think it is water or leak as it only smells on the inside when you open the door. The right side does not smell.

 

Do you have the aux/rear climate control fitted?

 

Yes, I have AC for the third row.

 

Well, there is no filter back there. In fact theres nothing that can decompose (if that’s the odour your are experiencing) But there is an evaporator drain tube. And it should be clear, of course.
There are also the heater hoses and the refrigerant piping. But as you peer into the cavity, it should be clean and dry.
You didn’t leave a sandwich in there, I hope... or a rat made a home??

I wish I found a sandwich!

When I open the side panel there is no smell. I can see what appears to be an evaporator but can’t see past it. I think I need to take the side panel off to take a further look.
