Hi all.
So I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2010 LR4.

Questions I have

1) Can you upgrade the screen to the software in the 2012+ ones?
I noticed they have a different UI etc.

2) Are aftermarket warranties actually worth it? I had an LR dealer tell me that if it's not a LR warranty...it's basically garbage.

3) Any big things to look out for on the Carfax? Any known issues with 2010s?

I really want to upgrade the nav / touch screen on my 2014 LR4. They want $200 just for the stupid disk to update the data. I'd rather put that towards install of a replacement.

 

navi/ice is hardware related not software.
i doubt it is possible to retrofit without wasting thousands of dollars and hours of labor.

aftermarket warranties are worthwhile if you purchase the appropriate ones. fidelity offers a platinum warranty that covers almost everything of note but is in the area of $4k after tax.

anything that is on carfax is worth looking for... repeat issues, accidents, multiple liens or owners etc. on the flipside carfax is only as good as the entities that report to it. there are many things that never make to carfax that you must be astoot enough to look out for and if you are not than a proper ppi could cost you a couple hundred bucks but save you thousands in headaches.
