Looking for info, possible purchase.
After an incident with ice in the Range Rover sport, I'm on the market for another Rover. Leaning towards something with a 3rd row since baby #2 is due at the end of the month. There isn't much available right now, but a Dealer around here has a 11 lr4 for 18, 1 owner car with 121k miles. What should I be looking for on these, and what's a fair price? I'm used to the older stuff so not sure what to look at.

Sorry about the accident
In general these are very solid vehicles
The 5.0 V8 has a weak water pump that can leak. But that happens by 30k miles or so - am sure it has been done by now. But it might do it again. Have them check it - it makes a rattling noise before it starts to leak. About $700 to fix so not a deal breaker (and much cheaper if DIY)
Clunking from front suspension over bumps at low speed - bushings on lower control arms wear. Often by 80k miles. Replaceable but takes quite a few hours - think mine ended up around $1400 at dealer
Make sure air suspension works up and down. All electrics, door locking etc. door lock actuators can fail - and particularly the bonnet/hood sensor which can Trip the alarm. But a v cheap fix
The car is heavy so eats brakes and rotors - and dealers charge about $1000 per axle (cheap and easy to diy). Same with tyre wear. So ensure brakes, rotors and tyres are good or negotiate accordingly. (About $900 for full set of tyres)
Engine and transmission typically quite reliable - check for smooth operation. Aluminium block so if it has overheated it can warp and is a v costly repair. So more than anything else make very sure the engine is sound
Mine is a 2010 with 85k miles and continues to be incredibly reliable
Not sure re pricing in your area. 18k not bad I would guess although mileage is on the higher end. As always no harm in negotiating
Good luck!

I think 18k is awfully high for a 7 year old car with 121K. But 'around here' is pretty vague: maybe it is pretty cheap for Beijing. Lots depends on what repairs and service it has had: new front end, radiator, water pump within last 15k, new tires, brakes all around, fuel filter renewed, tranny and dif fluids in last 10k -- maybe a good deal. My favorite salesman bought one from his dealer (where he worked) that was that old and had over 100k, but the dealer shop had basically renewed everything before he bought it and he put another 100k on it, trouble free.

Sounds like similar stuff to the old sport, which I kind of expected due to sharing so much. I'm in St Louis area, grand total of 2 I've found for sale locally, the other being 7k higher. Even looked at old lr3's but their either v6 or se, and not looking for a down grade from the sport. The one hse I saw was trashed. Once we settle with insurance I may look further out but focusing locally for now. We've got contacts at the local Rover dealer even and they can't find anything locally.

Gonna look at it today and talk to them. Plan is to expand the search area when we've got a check from insurance, focusing within 50ish miles for the time being. Once we won't have a rental car makes it more important haha.
the only other local (under 40+) is a 11 with right about 100k and they are asking 24...
