Lr4 HSE 2014 - transmission dying?
Hey guys. Happy new owner of a lr4 2014 here. It's got the 3.0 engine. Apart from its gaz guzzling capabilities, I love everything about it.
Milleage is 180 000km so it's very high but vehicule looks like it just got out of the dealership. Was used as a travel vehicule for a sales Rep so mostly highway Milleage.
I had a keyfob low battery error on the dashboard this morning, replaced it but seems like message didn't go away. I figured it was a ping delay issue so I didn't bother with it until I got to the truck an hour ago and got a new message : Transmission fault.
Vehicule goes to neutral, D, R, etc no prob but as soon as I press on the gaz pedal, the error came up in the dashboard and truck wouldn't move. I went back in my office to call for a ride and when I got back to truck after being off for 10-15 mins, the transmission started working again.
I read a lot of posts with transmission error related to low battery. I doubt keyfob battery could be the cause but this is my 5th land rover and god knows how completely unrelated systems can wreck havoc to each others with this brand.
Also I noticed tranny shifts roughly when I put it in gear and sometimes even cluckles. At what degree should I be worried you think? 95% of the time, it runs as smooth as my other brand new Discovery.
I am planning a quick checkup at my mechanic but I wonder if I should have him change tranny oil to make sure its not missing any, from what I hear, this is the only way to check oil level.
Thx for your insights.

Yeah. Truck battery has good readout and does not create any glitches.
Truck starts easily even in cold weather so pretty sure its good.
Im getting a mechanic genius friend of mine to check it out tomorrow. We will do an oil and filter change to make sure.
he says he has the best synthetic oil but I read a whole bunch of people mention specific ZF oil or Mircon SP as an alternative since its easier to get and truck is fairly old. Should I trust his oil brand or is ZF the only safe oil ?
Thx guys !
