Default LR4 Shifter - Replacements

My 2016 LR4 base model shifter has officially locked up. I am waiting for the local shop appointment but until then it is sitting in my parking lot - so i’ve been trying to read about it.

Seems like the dial shifter has an internal electronic lock that commonly locks for short circuits, brake line errors, etc. It locked for a moment when I started last, got it in drive pretty easy but when I went to park could not get it back in park. Turned off in drive, now it will not start because shifter won’t go neutral or park.

I am thinking about replacements and wondering about whether there are some that are not stupid pricey they seemed to fix the locking issues for, as I worry about this happening on the trail. I figure the previous years they made the normal shifter for the V8 6 speed, however I wonder if anyone knows whether this would be a potential option as mine is the SCV6 8 speed. Would much prefer a normal shifter, going to see options at the shop as well in a couple of days.

Car only has around 70K miles, very well kept; previous owner had a lot of work done and ECU changed, carplay added, almost every bumper replaced with armored bumpers; fog lights etc. added to car. Its running on around 32 inch black stainless steel wheels, no other issues with the car since I got it. Replaced thermostat when I got it almost immediately. Shifter gets hot when I run like i’ve read for some others, figure it might be resistance in the wiring and time for new shifter anyways.

If it is in fact the shifter module and you are DIY capable, they are fairly easy to change out and available on Ebay and Amazon for less than the dealership. I know, not all Amazon parts are good, but returns are easy if it doesn't work out. I haven't had any issues so far with both new & used items on Ebay or my few Amazon items (key fobs, crossbars, etc).
