LR4 Timing Chain job - Stuck at Locking Camshafts ( out of timing )
Hey all, recently picked up 2013 LR4 5.0 NA
it ran fine, although had some correlation codes which meant its time for the chain job.. 140k at the moment.
So far Ive been able to remove all of the components and essentially get ready to remove the chain. the only thing thats in my way is locking the camshafts with the locking tool.. when i 1st removed the cover i was playing with the loose chain around the phasers and the pahser sprocket skipped on me 1 or 2 tooth. I cant align the cams now to be able to use the locking tool.
Does any one know how to safely bring back the cams to proper alignment ? I suppose starting with the engine NOT being at TDC so there's space for valves to open/close... but how to actually move the cam with the chain still in place ?
Thanks !

if you are replacing all timing components just make sure the crank is close to where it should be, take off all chains and then lockdown crank and cams with chains off before you install new
Thanks,
Last night I actually closed up the front, after completing the timing chain job.
The issue was that my driver side bank was aligned properly and i was able to install the locking tool without issues, the passanger side though was out of timing and i could not install the tool without moving the cam in to alignment. As it was only slightly off I decided to pull the phaser off with the chain, then I was able to bolt on special tool that allows you to use wrench to move the cam in alignment for the locking tool.
I was only scared that the cam would somehow Jump on me when i would loosen up the chain or the phaser.
All in all the chain is installed, after 2 rotations it came back aligned. Tonight, on to injectors!
