Default LR4 in the weeds, anyone in Bellingham, WA area with iiD or iLand?

Greetings,

I'm new to the area and hoping to connect with someone in or close to Bellingham, WA who has a code reader specific to Rovers. Since today is a holiday some of the local shops are closed as well as Atlantic British as I was going to pull the trigger and order an iLand for my LR4.

Was driving down highway and received the "under 30mph" message and then the car fairly rapidly dropped to a ride height I would have loved back in 1992.

I'm guessing (maybe I should capitalize that) GUESSING that it could be a ride height sensor because of the sudden drop from working normally but a scan tool would answer the question.

Thanks to anyone who might point me to a fellow LR enthusiast in the area or a reliable mechanic.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your LR4. Have you tried a hard reset (disconnect battery, wait, reconnect)? Do you hear the compressor run when you fire the vehicle up? A problem with the compressor or even the air drier will cause this.

I have the 4Dcan software from RSW Solutions loaded on my laptop. There may be more robust options, but this software has worked great for checking codes, making minor adjustments and resetting systems. It got me through a compressor and air spring replacement on my LR3. I live in Mukilteo, but I'm over in Spokane through the weekend. Would be happy to hook it up for you and scan the suspension codes when I get back. But 75 miles south is a long drive at 30mph! You can buy a download code from RSW (just checked... $160) and get an ELM327 OBDII plug for a few bucks locally (or Amazon). You could be scanning today if you pull the trigger.

If it's the compressor or the air drier, these are easy fixes and replacement compressors can be found on eBay relatively cheaply.

Good luck!

Tryg

Tryg,

Thanks for the reply, info and the offer. After hard reset, there is no sound from compressor. Lately the compressor has become more and more noisy and I had been getting the "only normal height available" message. From videos I've seen online, I understand that the crank end of the pump piston rod bearing seems to be at fault in many of these and that is likely what has been going on.

I've ordered a new pump off ebay so I'm hoping that will fix it. I'll keep you in mind for the help with code scanning and any other help that might come up as I'm traveling from BHam to Seattle on a weekly basis.

Thanks again!
