Default MPG Question

Our "new to us" LR4 has an issue with codes P2178 & P2180 - banks 1 and 2 running too rich. Goes in the shop tomorrow as I haven't been able to correct the problem with shop manual suggested issues. Anyway, the LR4 is supposed to get 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. But my dash is showing low and mid 20's, even tho it is running rich per the computer. So I'm wondering if others actually get better than the advertised mpg around town, or is this another indication that perhaps the ECM is bad?

the onboard computer is almost always optimistic with it's calculations. it's better to calculate mpgs based on miles driven, Trip A, and gallons purchased at the station. i've found this to be true with every vehicle that i've owned that has figured its own mpg.

our '11 get's 13+ around town in real life, but the onboard computer says 16.

I've never ever seen anything over 20mpg in the cluster in nearly 200K miles... mine averages around 17-18mpg mostly freeway.

My 2013 LR4 V8 gets 13mpg in town and 19mpg on highway road trips. Only sees 24mpg when going vertically down a mine-shaft.

From the parts of Florida (Orlando and north) I've been in, the roads and terrain are relatively flat. That is likely the reason why you may have higher mpg compared to someone from a hilly region. I get 12-15mpg. But I live in a hilly area, where I climb up and down 200-300ft in elevation during my commute.
