overheat after replaced water pump… Help!
i have a 2011 Lr4 HSE, recently noticed a coolant leak and found out that my water pump failed, i changed the water pump and topped coolant off and let it idle for about 10min temp was fine drive it about a mile and it overheated”which it never did even with the failed pump” turned it off waited about 20min started it up and in about 5-10 min temp rosed and it overheated and popped the cross over pipe and coolant poured out, i replaced the cross over pipe refilled the coolant and purge air out the system not sure how good!! by removing the overflow tank cover and it ran cool for about 20min in idle but then the temp began to rise and it went all the way up so i shut it down before it overheated…. stuck thinking i should bleed the system again and purge air out better!!! need some help! Thank you fellow Rovers.

thanks will try it again, been searching the web to see how they do it on the LR4s but very much would you suggest any process to do it?

There is a specific process, I've seen it before but don't remember where. I use a vacuum filler so I haven't done the manual bleed procedure in a while. I do recall there are 3 bleeder screws/ports that you use. One on the reservoir, one on the crossover pipe and one by the firewall somewhere.
If after you bleed it correctly you still have issues, you may want to make sure your thermostat is working.
