Default Please help- 2013 LR4 will not start even after new battery and starter

I thought I had just ran the battery down. I charged battery and it drove fine. The coolant level came on but did not run hot. A few days of not driving, it would not start again. This time, it won't start when battery jumped. Battery checked and good. Lights and dash work.
Diagnostic code shows nothing. It clicks a time or two then shows low battery on screen. The charger shows it went from 100% to 70%.

When put battery back on vehicle, the vehicle started immediately. It worked for about a week then when I stopped at gas station, it would not start again. It was showing restricted performance on the dash. It did seem to be flashing every message rapidly.

Put new battery on as well as new starter. It still will not start. Don't know what else to try.

And ideas? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Start by checking the earth straps. I assume you've also checked the alternator is working properly? You can add a temp earth strap using a decent jump lead to a point on the engine and try starting again. If it starts, you have an earth problem. It would be useful to know what voltage you're getting from the alternator when the vehicle is actually running.

Sure sounds like the alternator. When your charge system fails, it will show every error known to man. See if you can get the battery charged back up, then measure the voltage when the car is running. You should see something in the range of 14v-14.5v or thereabouts.

If the battery won’t take a charge, you might have run the battery to low and ruined it, in which case you will need to take care of that first. The battery monitoring system (BMS) should prevent that much discharge, but never know.

The other thing is that the BMS should be reset when you change a battery, but I doubt that would cause the problems you’re seeing here.

I just had to put a new alternator and battery in mine. When the alternator died, (Charging error message and big red triangle) I drove it another 20 minutes to the dealer. On that trip every warning light eventually came on. I did drain the battery all the way down and it had to be replaced.

If you do need a new alternator, look for an oil leak at the passenger side valve cover. Mine was dripping oil into the alternator which is what killed it. It's possible your alternator is getting weak but still functioning enough not to throw an error message yet. I found that Atlantic British has a fair price on a new alternator.

Were you ever able to figure out the issue with your LR4? Mine is the same year and trim. I'm experiencing the same exact issue and am at the same stage as well. I've installed a new AGM battery from Interstate and as well as a remanufactured starter from AutoZone. I've already had them test the starter to make sure it works as it should.

It was the ground strap. Seems to be a common issue with LR4. Hopefully, this will solve your mystery as well!!

The generator is connected to earth via its mounting to the engine.
The LR has many earth points. And depending on the condition of your vehicle, any number of them may need a cleaning and tightening…. this is all clearly laid out in the workshop manual.
