Default Problem high fuel consumption LR4 HSE V8 2011

I have a 2011 LR4 HSE V8 imported from US to Ghana.
Fuel consumption is about 26-28 l/100 km based on driving in the city and using A/C. When driving on highway the consumption does not improve a lot.
I have changed various sensors, fuel pump, carbon canister, new spark plugs (original LR), new air filter, Odo meter has been calibrated and still have a high fuel consumption. It has a one point been only 16-18 l / 100 km, so I know that it can do better.
Tyre pressure is ok, bearings are ok, driving on octane 95.

So any suggestions to what can be wrong?

Best regards

Haven’t they always gotten lousy gas mileage?

well yes, but the thing is it has done 16-18l/100km last autumn and now doing 26-28l/100km - so something is clearly wrong..

People swear by BG 44k fuel system cleaner. I just ordered a bottle myself for my LR4. Maybe look into it?

Has the fuel changed? We have different formulations for summer vs winter in California due to emissions concerns. The summer fuels seem to provide fewer miles per gallon. Has your fuel distributors added ethanol recently?

I live in Ghana, so I can't really trust the fuel. Some times they only have 92 octane for weeks. But still should not make such a big difference from 18 up to 26 liter /100 km. Thats a 50% increase in fuel consumption..

Default fuel problems

I remember hearing that the fuel injectors need to be professionally cleaned every 40K miles
that could have something to do with it!

Good Luck
