Default Rear air strut replacement question

Hey all,

I have a small leak in one of my rear air bags which causes the vehicle to lower to the bump stops every time the weather gets cold. I have ordered two new ones from Atlantic British and am planning to attempt to swap them out myself later next week. Just wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks to offer. From what I've found, it seems the steps should be:

Lift rear end up on jack stands and remove wheels
Unplug electrical
Remove 3 bolts and air connection from top of strut
remove lower bracket bolt (use bottle jack to support so it doesn't fall)
slightly tilt it at a forward and outward leaning angle and remove strut.

*i was also told to make sure i do not bump or disrupt the ride height sensors*

Is there anything I'm missing? Should i anticipate having anything to do with the control arms? Any tips, tricks, or things to be aware of?

Thanks in advance

Detailed instructions are described in the workshop manual.

Did you already service or replace the rear valve block? Rear strut leaks are not very common, less so than fronts. A leaking valve block is the number one cause of struts to dump air, so most tackle that first before doing the struts themselves.

Yes… Its best to perform the air leak test on the entire system to derive a diagnosis and repair.

Yep, valve blocks are good to go. Truck still lowered to one rear corner over night with EAS fuse pulled.

As far as the workshop manual - is there a special one you are referring to, or is it simply in the owners manual? I looked it up and it seems there are several options out there for service manuals, would love to know which you recommend. Thanks!

No, changing up the air spring is not considered an owner’s maintainable service.

As @DakotaTravler has eluded, there is a specific procedure to follow before coming to any decision for corrective action.
Without experience or the workshop manual I suspect the pinpoint tests have not been followed and your diagnosis may be inaccurate.
Send me a pm and we’ll see if we can get you sorted.

I'm curious if you were able to diagnose the issue. I replaced my front struts over the summer and replaced the front block and compressor while I was at it. Last week I had the rear-driver side lower unexpectedly, but hasn't happened since.
