Do not due!!! I heave a 14 LR4 and due to the electronics of a remote start it competes messses up the lr4. My battery was constantly being drained. I was towed multiple times due to electronic faults that would prohibit the car from going into gear. I know it is a pain not to have a remote start but it is a headache with all the issues. If you do consider it make sure that you take it to a shop that is authorized to do it on your vehicle.

thanks for the feedback. The more i've talked to some people about it, the more they have advised me against it. What a shame - Have you done anything that seems to work really well with your LR4?

Just curious what type of remote start did you have installed? I have had similar issues with battery drain in a mini I have remote start on, but the guy in Canada who designed and sells a kit for Land rovers only claims his does not. www.roverelectronics.com Let me know if this is the brand you installed or tried something different.

Why do you need a remote starter? You have heated seats front and rear and heated steering wheel and automatic windshield and rear window defrost. All the remote starter will do is mess with the security system and leave vehicle open to theft. Yes, you can drive off with a vehicle with a remote start even if it has a timed off.

Default Well

I appreciate the points you make, but everyone has their reasons. It was -10° here last week and it takes 20 minutes for the car to warm up at those temperatures. It is much nicer to get into a warm car than a cold one and I am not concerned with theft, it’s very rare and that’s why I have insurance.

Default LR4 remote start

I have a Compustar T12 remote start installed on my '13 LR4 Lux. It works great. It was installed by someone who knew what they were doing. They had to run several individual wires for the security to work. I also had a Drone Mobile installed so I can start/Stop/See Status of my vehicle through my iPhone using their app. So I have a 3 mile range, ie higher power FOB to start my vehicle, and a Cellular based app to do the same. You just have to find the right people who want to do the job right. $1800 parts and labor. Yea, and I live in ND, these are almost mandatory.
