Hey everyone, I need a second key for my LR4. I was going to purchase another one and program it with my GAP tool but I was wondering if it mattered which style smart key fob one used?

I have this first style, a generic copy, but can I also use the second style and program it myself?

 

Fwiw, I just recently ordered a replacement FOB from LR. I was told the new style was not compatible at the time.

You’d think they would supersede the old one with the new one if they were compatible…

 

That’s logical! I just saw conflicting information which is why I figured I’d turn to the hive mind
