Default Key fob program

So, When I purchased my 2005 Lr3 it came with 1 key and the fob was mangled. The key works and will open the door but the remote fob option does not work.
I purchased the GAP tool and programmable key kit from Lucky 8. Today I programmed the new key using the GAP tool. After completion, the key worked, it started the truck but the FOB on the new key isn't working???

I'm wondering what my next more should be? Is there a chance the new key needs a battery or something?

Thanks for any help.

So the original remote buttons - and now the new remote buttons - do not work?
Probably not the fobs then, Some possibilities to check:

1. Wiring in passenger footwell got wet/messed up (I think a common problem) - search for this fix - I think you are looking for a green/white wire.
Could be somewhere under the door sill too. Do you have/had any water leak issues?

2. Remote receiver in headliner is maybe bad

^ What he said.

I will just add that the remote function and the starting security functions of the remote are separate circuits. This is why the fob battery can die yet it can still start the truck.
