Question Starting and stopping issue

Hi
I have a 2014 discovery 4 hse that has an intermittent starting and stopping issue, sometimes when i press the start/stop button nothing happens no clicks no messages on the dash nothing, just the normal land rover logo that comes on when you get in the vehicle, this also happens when it running, i press the start stop button to turn the engine off and nothing happens it just keeps on running after usually 5 minutes and pressing the start stop button about 20 times it works fine.
The issue is intermittent there seems to be no pattern to it, it will start and stop fine for days then all of a sudden it just decides Im not going to work.
I was wondering if anyone has heard of this before or has any ideas.

I am new on here, i have search the past threads but couldnt see anything about this issue being raised before so if i missed it and its already been covered my apologies for asking again.

Can’t say I’ve seen this problem reported before, but the fact that the engine won’t turn off by the switch makes me think the switch itself might be bad.

First thing I would do is check to see if any diagnostic trouble codes are saved. If you don’t have a scanner, a local autoparts store should be able to scan it for you.

Also, I believe the start/stop switch is pretty cheap and very easy to replace, so you could just try replacing it to see if that helps. This video shows how: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...ojmkLTyGbefgKZ. Just keep hold of that cord when you undo the connector so it doesn’t fall back in the dash before you get your new switch plugged in.

If it’s not the switch, other things that come to mind are the ignition relay, body control module, starter relay, and keyless module.

Default Start stop button

My discovery 4 has the same problem. About to purchase a new one. Wonder if the switch mechanism requires cleaning.

Hi
I got a diagnostic scanner and checked for fault codes, No faults found.
So replaced the start stop button in the dash - all fixed and working fine now.
How and why i had an intermittent fault with a start stop button i dont know. It tested fine when i removed it and checked it over, but it was still at fault.
