Ok, I hear/read many places that the Hitachi compressor knockoffs are very poor. My oem hitachi began making lots of noises recently so I removed it. I have a good used Oem but i am for the sake of posterity installing a amazon sourced knock off first. I wish to see if it functions properly and how long it lasts. My oem lasted 11 years and 89,000 miles. Since I am not paying labor for the switch and the knockoff is < USD 200 I decided to give it a shot.

 

I’ll be interested to see how this goes. I think the replacement I’ve been looking at is about $1400 from Lucky 8.

 

I installed it this past Sat morn. Works well so far but i figured it would out of the box...we will see how long it lasts. BTW, Atlantic Brit has the oem hitachi for about $900.
