Default Upgrade time...

So im in the market for a new car, as i will be getting ride of my 2004 Discovery w/ 56,000 miles.

Ive had a great experience with the disco, besides a few minor issues. Im strongly looking at the LR4, along with some other SUVs.

Ive read a decent amount about the car and have some questions maybe you owners can help with...

1) Is there somewhere i can see the exact difference between the base, HSE, and HSE Lux?

2) Any years to worry about?

3) Anyone tow with this? Input, we will be towing a 3200lbs wakeboard boat with single axle trailer every once in a while... I would say the gross weight with gear and trailer is close to 4500lbs. The trailer does have brakes, my disco towed it just fine.

I guess ill start there...

see TOPIx - TOPIx

This is the factory site, and you can view/download the owner manuals for free. Which will have a page about towing.

2010 Land Rover LR4 Vehicle Options

The HSE Plus or higher is the way to go, you'll be upset at yourself down the road for a missing feature or two.
With used cars, there isn't going to be as much price distinction between the different trim lines as there was new, more just of finding the right one.

Also, they're all about the same as far as year goes, '12 introduced a slightly different nav/audio system, but all the other upgrades are somewhat retroactive, so if there is a problem, it will be rectified as the newer ones were from the factory (such as the EAS compressor, the surround camera system, and various software updates.)
And it's designed to tow. Has all the active controls, like trailer sway prevention, and can easly be set up for a trailer brake module. And with nearly twice the power of the Discovery, you'll feel much better with the LR4.

I got the '13 LR4 in January, was looking at the Sport, but had to have the third row seating (even though I haven't used it yet). I may get a new model Sport in a year or two.

But so far I like the LR4 very much! Just has a bit of a boxy rear end.

Boxy means more available interior space.

well just picked up the new girl the other day. pretty excited to get her from the dealer.

picked up a 2010 ipanema sand hse lux. upgrading from a 2004 discovery se.

we also got the cpo warranty through the land rover dealer so she will be covered till 2016 or 100,000 miles.

i got the trailer wiring harness and quick release hitch which i plan on installing on my own. i saw the diy video from atlantic british and it looks pretty straight forward.

anything i should be aware of on the 2010s??

thanks!
