Unhappy Winter/moisture issues?

Yesterday (-10 C) trying to start my LR4 3.0 it struggled. At first ran for some 20 seconds really poorly, than shut down and didn't restart. After running engine heater it started but ran poorly, engine rpm alternating between 600-800. After a while it would respond to the throttle but ran in reduced power mode. Took the picutre at that time, note the rubberhose has shrunk, I guess something is blocked. After some mode fiddeling around the enginde ran fine and the hose was ok.
However, while travelling passing another car the engine returned to reduced power mode. Stopped and restarted. No problem.

Today (-3C) started car and it ran fine, let it warm up slowly on idle for 15 minutes. But once on the highway and giving it some more thottle once again it returns to reduced power mode. Restart didnt help, but after driving another 10 km and letting the heat spread it ran fine.

Of course something has moisture and freezes up, seems to make the enginesystem react when Im giving it a lot of throttle.

Any sugestions what I should do?

900 km away from home during the holidays...

Reduced power mode is invoked by any number of codes. Without the codes, its anyones guess.

Well it’s slightly like pulling lottery numbers when there aren’t any codes but… What do you run as coolant? Is it possible that it isn’t ok for only -10 degrees centigrade? I mean I know the stuff I have is good to -38 oC but I’ve also heard people in warmer climates run with other mixing ratios than the 1:1 coolant concentrate to water I use.

hmmm, there is no evidence yet that it is a coolant issue. Equally, it ccould be a failed thermostat, of fuel trim or…

I guess its true, you don't own a Discovery without an errorcode reader.
Bought the LR4 about 3 months ago, hoping Santa brings the reader soon.

I don't think it's a coolant issue, I don't know its spec, but we have been driving in winter conditions for two months without any problems.
My basic question is, the rubber hose, what is it connected from to the engine and what can cause it to stop the flow?

Well, I was thinking of the fluid freezing and the coolant hose being compressed by vacuum.

So I took the LR 4 to the local Land Rover mechanic. Error Codes where P00BC and P1247. They concluded that the magnetic valve of the turbo needed to be replaced. They replaced it a couple of days ago, but no change. When the second turbo is activated on higher revs the engine goes into limp mode.
So, in a couple of weeks we will drive some 600 km to another mechanic who is connected to the mainframe in Britain and can read the sub error codes.
To be continued.
