Default Wrong Transfer case fluid

I got my 2016 Land Rover LR4 back today after the 64,000 service. They did a transfer case fluid change. When I got the truck back, I discovered that they put the fluid in for a 2 speed transfer case IYK500010 and I have a 1 speed transfer case, correct fluid LR048849. I am very upset because I take excellent care of my truck and now I feel like a perfectly running truck has been damaged. It was the dealer who did this. I called them and
they are cooperating. They are contacting LR corporate to find out the answer. They say they use IYK500010 for all the trucks no matter what make or year. I am afraid to drive the car. Is my car ruined. It was driven for an hour today. What kind of permanent damage can happen to my truck??

Using one transfer case fluid vs the other should not cause any damage, especially over such a short period of time. One might be slightly different viscosity than the other, or have certain additives for longer wear or something like that. But you could probably drive either for a long time without doing damage. Its possible the two speed case fluid is just a longer lasting “heavy duty” t-case fluid and works fine in either. But see what LR says. If they say either is fine, I’d believe it. If they say you should replace it with the proper fluid, just have the dealer do it. I don’t think you really have much to worry about here.
