Default 2000 discovery tires

I am getting ready to put new tires on my 2000 Disco II and was wondering if I could use 265/60r18 instead of the original 255/55r18, there appears to be about 1 inch difference in the overall height between these two tires. Can I put the 265 tires on with no other modifications??
Also looking for some help with wiring driving lights, I have a set of Hella Black Magic driving lights I would like to install, is there anything special I need to know about wiring these on this vehicle???

Thanks---Fred

These tires were on mine when I got it, They're too big for my taste so I'm going to be replacing them but I haven't had any rubs (I haven't done anything offroad either) Just to give you an idea what's possible. I'm going back to stock height because I have two artificial hips and going back to stock will mean I will have an easier entry due to the lower height.

You may be OK WITH 265'S, IT WILL BE CLOSE WITHOUT A LIFT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WILL BE DOING MUCH WHEELING.

Thank you both for your reply to my post, your comments have been very helpful. I now know that the 265/60R18 tires should work with no problem and that has helped to make my decision. Now to find the best price on the tires I would like, any recommendations?

Too bad we're not on the same side of the country, we could trade. Mine are 285/60 18 so they're even taller than the 265's but I think if I was going to keep them I'd need to do a lift because I can't get my hand between the tire and the fender opening while it's just sitting there. (of course I could replace the shocks with water pipes, then noooo problem.)
