Default Console swap. Opinions wanted.

D2 console in my truck. I have a upcoming LT230 swap coming and I'd have to cut my original piece to be able to use diff lock. Plus my window switch panel flops in the breeze and I need to fix that too. So I decided to see what a D2 console looks like. I'm on the fence w it. It's really tight at the arm rests. And where it meets the dash needs some work. I'm thinking if I trimmed a couple inches of height there it might work better. I planned on relocating the radio anyway. I want a Bluetooth controlled unit mounted under the seat. I'm going to eliminate the rear ducts. I have the D2 mounting brackets front and rear along with the rear finishing panel that goes underneath. I'd have to figure out how to cover up the power seat button holes. Opinions? Thoughts?

Not a bad idea at all. It's got a little bit of plastic rib material to cover the edge. I'm hoping I can make it look semi stock.

I thought of that. Been looking for awhile but no dice. Plus most are tan.

I ghetto fabbed a mount using original console mounts. I don't want to cut up the truck at all. So this is my temp solution. Ugh. So ugly. Block of wood painted and old CJ U-bolt clamps. Raised that back up perfect with no holes in floor. Terrible work. But it'll do until I decide if I want this in there. With the finishing piece and extinguisher mounted you can't see it.

Looks pretty good to me, much better than a busted RRC console

Yea doesn't look too bad. I like having the cup holders. Plus the D2 shift indicator is way nicer. If I keep it I'm thinking of putting a temp gauge where the transfercase decal is. Then cutting some of the height off the front to better fit the dash. Still the wrongs shape. I'd have to fill in the gaps w maybe vinyl or something.
The only other option is to make a copy of the original. Wood or metal and cover it/paint it. I found an Australian company who makes powdercoated metal reproductions. 450 bucks plus shipping though.

You may already know this, the 95 classic uses the same console.

Also, if you want wood you can use the "skateboard" from a D1 LSE and it is already LT230 shifter compatible. I might have one that could use a sanding and staining you could have for dirt cheap.

I like the look!
