Default Fitting a Crank handle???

This may seem a bit odd, so be prepared!

Id like to know if anyone has or has at least considered fitting an old fashioned manual cranking handle to their Landy? (The old type that was replaced by the starter motor? The handle that was cranked over a few times to start vehicles.)

Anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

To practice, take your socket wrench and attach to large nut on the lower pulley (crank shaft pulley). Turn 360 degrees 10 times. Do this with the key off the first time.

IMHO batteries are a great invention.

No, it can't be done and why would you want to, you can't even get a straight shot at it without removing the radiator.

You cant do it with a V8 or a TDI, it must be a 4 or 6 cylinder petrol.

They say they put a man on the moon
with enough engineering I don't see why you couldn't
one with a spring you could wind up and release from in the cab would be cool
off set it so it goes beside the radiator and spins the belt or some such thing

If it would be cheaper they would. Try spinning the engine with your breaker bar and socket on the crankshaft bolt. Get that V-8 to about 80 rpm like the starter does. Then decide on just how large a spring you will need on a winter day....

But yes, engines in some things are started by compressed air, cranks, electric or air powered wrench (some racers), ropes (boat motors under certain HP), even blank shot gun shells (old fighter planes and crop dusters).

But since you already want a robust electrical system to illuminate the six Hella lights on the roof rack, and power the 1200 watt stereo; the electric starter is there.

and re: They say they put a man on the moon - yep, we did.
