I'd go with that... spend a little cash on an early disco (a heck of a lot less than you'd have to spend on a DII btw)and it'll go pretty much anywhere my D-90 will go. $1100+ for a winch bumper is insane, unless it comes with a free winch! I wouldn't like to pay the shipping on one of these from the UK to the USA, but if you can't get something made for a similar price locally I'd be very surprised - it's a bumper not quantum physics

Somewhere in the $400 to $450 mark in the UK... but then they don't call us 'Rip Off Britain' for nothing when it comes to cars over here.

I already told you that my parents won't let me get anything older then a 00 or anything more then 85,000 miles.
They don't want the thing falling apart after I buy it.

So my choices are 00, 01, 02, 03, and 04.

I can afford 03's but 04's are so expensive.

How much would it cost for CDL for a 03?

Cause the 03 I want is $8,500 and the 04 I want is $15,000.

No offence but the 03 and 04 look the same.
So if a CDL is going to cost less then 6,000 then I might go for it?

Do you think I could haggle the car salesmen to get the price down to $10,000 or $12,000 then I might have a chance!

haggling that much wouldn't be easy, but it's possible if you know your stuff. I think it'd be a lot easier to wait a few weeks to find an 04 that's selling for like $13,000 and then argue down a thousand or two. Just to add though, tell your parents if you get a disco that's been taken care of and you continue to do the same it will last to 300,000+ miles without a problem.

Search the site for "Parts Suppliers" and you'll find everything you're looking for. One thing to think about, SE's usually have 18" rims which you may want to avoid if you want to use stock.

Would I be better off spending 3,000 dollars on a

CDL

or

Tires
Lift Kit
etc?

I'd get the CDL first, that will help you a lot more in the long run.

We went car shopping today and my parents weren't feeling the rover.

We test drove 2 of them.
The one was a 2004 and the car shook like crazy not sure but the rear wheels were crappy.
The other was a 2004 and drove pretty smooth but was sold in PA so they were iffy about the cold weather, salt, rust.

How can convince them to get the rover?
How much is insurance?

for the one that was sold in PA go check it out, take a look at the underside. Even if there's only minor surface rust it can be removed and you can do an undercoating for like $20. Rust really shouldn't be too much of an issue

What kind of specs does a Land Rover need to beat a Jeep with

5.5 inch lift
36 inch tires
8,000 lb winch

Assuming the Jeep does not have upgraded axles/lockers/gears, I'd say a 2" lift and a decent set of 265/75s ought to do it in most situations.
