Default Modded 97 Disco 1

Thought you might like some pix. Done up by Rob Dassler of Southwest Rovers.
  • 4:56 w/air lockers front and rear, flipped Toyota Diff
  • All sliders and armor underneath
  • Equipe' suspension
  • Tuff Liner inside and out
  • Custom cage
  • D90 front brakes
  • Bunch of stuff that I honestly can't think of
  • 4.6 upgrade with cam and head upgrade on the way, this 4.0 ltr isn't up to the task of this heavy sucker

Pretty sweet rig!

Are you swapping motors or just putting the crank, rods and pistons in your 4.0? Your block may be a better starting point. The D2 4.6's seem to be more prone to block cracking.

I'll be going with a 4.6 block with all cylinders sleeved with the top hat liners. Should hold up pretty well. I see that there are some aftermarket cylinder heads available thru the triumph spares folks out in Australia...anyone ?

IMO, an exocage is really only useful if you're hitting serious trails. You know, the ones that say "body damage likely". Unless you plan on running those an exocage is just added weight and they're generally ugly.

They look like painted Flexi Flares.

That seems like a whole bunch of money for a set of heads. For an engine that has a modified intake, bigger injectors and headers feeding into a pair of sewer pipes and that you are shifting at 6,500 rpm it might be worth it, but for most Discovery's I've seen the stock heads are more than sufficient.
