Default Need Advice Lift and Tires

I just Posted my intro in the New users section, but this thread is about lifts and tires.

I typically drive an hour each way to jobs for work 5 times a week. BUT i want to lift my Discovery a few inches and put larger tires on it. The eventual goal is to enable it for trails and beach driving, with some deep water/mud driving.

I have an '03 discovery, all stock, in great condition. I want to lift it 2" and put larger mud tires on it. I need to know how exactly to do that... anyone who has done this before, I'd like to have a "checklist" of things to do that I might not know I need to do first. Also anyone who knows the largest tire size I can put on stock and with a 2" lift, let me know some specifics.

Again I am new to Land Rovers in general, and need "Land rover's for dummies" type replies.

Look forward to the advice and help.

Mahalo

Go here for the major service you should do prior to lifting and tires. What good is the lift if your driveshaft gives out or you're overheating?

https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=29020

(apologies for mobile link; go to the Disco II sub-forum and see the "major service" sticky thread at the top)

Regarding lifts, go to the Disco I sub-forum and use the search function on the top, right side of the thread listing to see what others have done, their advice, their setup, etc.

Good luck!

Another soon to be lifted Disco in Hawaii, very good.
Might want to go to Lucky8 and watch their video on installing a lift. No special tools required except for a floor jack and 1 jack stand, should take you around 2 to 3 hours to do, depending on if you have a friend helping.
As for the choice of lifts, Old Man Emu and Terra Firma are the more common.
Do you have 16" or 18" wheels currently?

you said '93, but your picture looks like an '03. Not much interchanges between the two and would require different parts to do what you are asking. that would be an expensive learning curve to order '93 parts for an '03.

I've got a '98 but I'm in the same situation. Looking at a 2" lift...leaning towards OME for the name, and terrafirma for the price/function at this point in my "research". Rovers North seemed to be recommending Pro Comps for on road performance, but looking at the Jeep forums I'm leaning away from that option. Also looking at BFG AT in a 255/70-75/16 vs General AT2 equivalents on my stock alloys.

And while it's on another forum, I've been using this a lot for fitment consideration: Basic Tire Information - Land Rover Forums : Land Rover and Range Rover Forum

Pro Comps are pure trash when it comes to Rovers, you will rarely ever see a set on a Rover at a big Rover ralley.
T.F., yes they are cheap both in price and quality.
If you are looking for a strong suspension then consider either the RTE coils with OME Sport Shocks or a full OME kit, be it medium of H.D. depending on your needs.
