Should I go with OEM trailer receiver or aftermarket?
What looks better? I am a new range rover owner and want to install a trailer hitch, and my preference is a subdued / 'hidden' trailer receiver.
Is the OEM kit from the dealer for $1000+ (including wiring harness and modified bumper cut out etc)
Or should I go cheap with a $150 aftermarket part and either install myself or go thru my mechanic?

I have the OEM set up on both of our LR3's. I both love and hate the OEM set up. Easy to take off and store when I don't need it. Downside is its expensive and can be difficult to remove if not used frequently,
Some of the cheap aftermarket setups I wouldn't trust to pull a garden trailer let alone anything substantial.

I had to cut the OEM hitch off my latest LR3, previous owner not only lost the key, it was so corroded it was useless. Not even a rebuild kit would have fixed it.
Availability has also been spotty, and the price seems to be increasing too.
I'm installing the bolt on replacement, and it looks pretty beefy.
Here is the Canadian link;
I used the OEM hitch on my previous RR Sport often, and it never had a problem, but it stayed stored in the cargo area compartment when not in use, so it stayed clean.
The one downside to this bolt on style is less clearance off roading, but removing two bolts before a serious off road trip is pretty easy too...
