Thinking of getting this: STOP Rear end Collision Damage & Reduce Whiplash Injury! SUPERBUMPER
$140 comes with non-locking pin. Two shock-absorbing "attenuators" behind the bar. anyone have this?
supposedly protects from damage and whiplash from up to 30mph rear-ends. And they'll replace for free, with a police report.
I could use a rear step, plus it's intimidating as hell.

I don't know, looks like this device would put 100% of impact on hitch/receiver. Possibly forcing receiver into gas tank, long before any of the other structure is involved...so as to protect occupants. Whereas, without it...the impact would be spread across bumper assembly, tire carrier/rear door and hitch/receiver. This device might be good for those low speed, stuck in traffic bumper to bumper collisions. But, who can guarantee this will be the only type of impact you will receive? Also, if this device was the end-all to vehicle damage or safety...don't you think the auto industry would develope something similar? Because, they understand automotive impact through testing and research...not...hey, this looks like a good idea.
Been at a few hundred collisons over my lifetime (towing), and there's nothing that gets your attention quicker...than the smell of gas.
Brian.
