Default Tire Size for 18" rim with 2" lift?

I bought my 99 Disco II off a friend that was moving to Germany for $500. As such, I have enjoyed it but know nothing about them. It currently has the Land Rover 18" rims and 255/55/R18 on it. I want a larger tire that will fill the wheel well more. I'm doing mostly city driving but head into the mountains in Colorado here now and then. Looking for an AT tire and not wanting to spend a ton of money. Discount Tire quoted me $830 for 255/65/R18 and said it would fill it out a little better. Any suggestions? Thanks. Ryan.

I recently bought Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires in 265/60/18. They are nice off road tires with 3 peak mountain snowflake rating. These are snow rated tires that would be great in Colorado.

I paid $140 each for them.

I would suggest going with that size. They do not "kill" the performance by being too tall. They will work with stock height, but I am lifting mine tomorrow with the 2" Terrafirma kit.

The 265/60/18 tires are 30.5 inch tall vs 29 inch tall for the stock tires.

Thanks for the input. I talked with a guy at a local shop instead of one of the big chains and he pointed me towards a 265/65/18. He said it would take me to about 32" but still not rub anywhere.

32" is too much on stock suspension.. Honestly if its on the original suspension im sure it has sagged an inch if not more... something to think about. think how crappy it would be to spend 800 to 1200 on tires to tear them up on the first bump you hit on highway... Just saying. I would not go over that 30.5 and anyways 16in are better off road. you can probably save enough money from buying 16 in tires to pay for the rims... big difference and you will be happier... or spend the money and do a 2 in lift.. 2 in does a lot on these discoveries.
