Tires on a stock DII drivetrain
hey everyone, new to the forum and excited to learn about my car. I just purchased my dads 2001 DII. He barely used and has it bone stock except the brush bar. And my very first question is what's the biggest I can go on tires without doing anything to my drivetrain. I am gonna be putting 16in steel wheels from British Atlantic. If you guys could help me out it would be great. Thanks in advance.
Are you willing to do some cutting to the fenders and front bumper? If so you can go bigger...
How many miles does the truck have and has any of the suspension been replaced? How about your front drive shaft, still stock?

With no changes, 245/75/16 will fit well and not requires gears, diffs or metal cutting.
You will want to replace/rebuild the front drive shaft before it fails and takes out the tranny.
How many miles on the truck? Do you know about the CDL t/case. you have, that can be set up to give you about 50% more traction.
