Default winch hook

OK you guys are good at finding deals, I planned to reuse my wire cable hook with synthetic line it won't fit so guess I need one of those hinged hooks

Ideas where to look for best price ?

I got mine from MasterPull.
Post a pic of the end of your winchline. What's the width on the eye of your line?
This is the one I have. Looks like MasterPull went to a new hook style, but Viking still has them.

That should work, too. MasterPull had them for $35ish so I didn't look much beyond that when I bought.

The hook itself is bigger. Also it's a safety hook. It's a double motion to open it, press the tab down then open the gate. The gate/hook also automatically closes when a load is applied.

I have the TJM hook, I still have mixed feelings about it. I like that it's big and can hook a tree strap etc without using a D shackle. But it's kind of awkward to secure on the bumper. I ended up having to clip it to a bar in order to not have the thimble try to pull through the fairlead.

I've seen these pricey hooks and there are also billet aluminum thimbles with titanium pins you can get from Rovers North for $140, but wouldn't a 3/4" shackle work just fine for a bunch less money? A ship shackle with a nut and pin won't loosen up on you. On my winch, I slipped a rubber body mount from a Ford F-150 that I had in the parts bin over the cable before I put the hook on and I just winch in until the rubber hits the fairlead so I don't run the cable off to the side. Fatigue on a synthetic line isn't an issue like it is with wire but I like snugging up against the rubber bumper rather than pulling the cable off to the side.

I've really been digging these since I saw them at Expo East.
