Default 2017 and 2018 New Discovery

Hi - we're starting to explore replacing our 2010 LR4, most likely with a new Discovery. I see from the website that it's billed as a 2017 Discovery. Does anyone know when the 2018 models go on sale? And will there be any differences (seems unlikely given it hasn't been out for long)...

Thanks!

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery can now be ordered from your dealer. Land Rover San Diego was able able to place orders as of noon today. The 2018 is essentially the same with some minor differences in the arrangement of option packages. Also the TFT virtual instrument panel is available. I ordered a HSE in Black with dynamic package, drive pro package, and 7 seat luxury climate comfort package. The test drive sold me on it. Also I reached out to 5 owners on Instagram who reported no service/repair/issues during their months of ownership with the 2017 model so I feel comfortable. Excited to get the whole family and dog in!

Yes, the TFT dials is the only noticeable change, I had this on the Jaguar's I had previously and I would have missed it as I liked having the Satnav map there, however my 2017 Discovery has the HUD so it's not too much of a miss. The only other change that I can remember is that it's 4G Data compatible rather than the 3G only restriction that's on 2017

I can report a few issues in the 1st 1000 miles of having mine, my alarm was going off constantly meaning calls from the tracking company during the night, turned out it was a faulty switch on the bonnet/hood latch, was swapped out by Land Rover Assist on the roadside, so a minor problem that hopefully is now cured.

Also has a few problems with the ICE, my iPhone disconnecting from Bluetooth regularly, had the same issue with the Jaguar's and I've pinned it down to be specific to using with an Apple Watch, if I turn the Apple watch to flight safe mode, I have no problems at all. Only a problem if you have an Apple Watch!

Sometimes the whole system, including radio loses sound, but has been rectified by restarting the car.

I'd get the dealer to sign up to you coming back for any software version changes free of charge to improve stability through ownership.

That said the car on the whole is joy to drive, and you'll really enjoy driving it. Can recommend the Dynamic Exterior/Interior pack, looks great on mine.
