Took our D5 TD6 into the dealer at 79,600 miles with a check engine light. Turned out the DPF was cracked and was giving a DPF low efficiency code. I expected as much since it had been collecting black soot in the tailpipe. The dealer diagnosed the issue and replaced the DPF and SCR on their dime under the federal emissions 8y/80k warranty. There was no arguing or having to escalate to JLR... Just dropped it off saying "hey, the check engine light is on" and picked it up a few days later with them quite proud of themselves that I didn't have to pay them. To be fair, this was probably one of the most surprisingly pleasant dealer experience I've had in a while. Thank you, JLR North Atlanta.
WTF? I was expecting a tale of woe and $$$ ! Congrats !
BTW: Gave to QC? They had quality control. Did. not know that.
I figured it would be nice to have a positive post rather than a bunch of doom and gloom. I'm not terribly thrilled that the DPF barely lasted outside of the CPO warranty, but at least the dealer handled it.
I wasn't sure what they meant by QC. Perhaps just taking a drive and hooking up their scan tool to check for codes. Maybe they performed all the diagnostic checks again to make sure they didn't introduce anything new. Who knows...
