Default 2022 LR Discovery randomly shuts off

Hi, I got a brand new 2022 Discovery R-Dynamic with the V6 turbo/MHEV engine about 2 weeks ago and twice now while i’m sitting at a red light the whole car shuts off and goes into park. Gauges turn off, AC turns off just as if I had turned the car off myself. Then I have to start the engine back up and shift it into drive hopefully in time before the light turns green. Also on the highway around 70-80MPH there is a strange hum which seems to come from the engine. Don’t know if they could be related but i only have 350 miles so far

Has anybody ever experienced this problem and had it resolved? I found on the range rover forum some people having this issue a couple years ago but I can’t seem to find a resolution.

Thank you

On my third day of ownership, I was driving to the dealer on an unrelated issue and this happened to me sitting at a light around the corner from the dealership. It went into eco-stop then when I pressed the gas pedal, the engine tried to start then stalled and went to park as you describe.

Took the dealer almost a week to track it down as it didn't show any codes in memory. They fixed it and tested it for a few days, It's a bit over 5000Km now and hasn't happened since.

That’s great news that they were able to fix yours. I am planning on taking mine in soon but could you tell me what they fixed on your truck? If they tell me that they can’t replicate the problem i’d like to mention it to them. Thanks!

As mentionned, It took them close to a week of test drives to replicate. I could tell through the app that they drove it around the dealership neighbourhood about 3 times a day. From there all I know is that a tech ticket was opened at LR and a software patch was applied. They kept it a few more days to test again then I got it.

My 2022 R-Dynamic P360 has done this 3 times to me in under 1100 miles. It's currently at the dealer as they try and reproduce it on test drives.

My dealership was not able to replicate the issue but there was an available software update for the powertrain and that fixed the issue

I just got the call the car is ready. I got a software update and they noted the battery charge was below what was expected. Here are the notes they shared in the invoice. Hope things are straight from here on out.

READ FAULT CODES,
P162F STORED IN PCM. PER WSM FAULT DIAGNOSTICS, PERFORMED
GR8 BATTERY TEST, PASSES. TEST DROVE VEHICLE AGAIN,
DUPLICATED CONCERN AGAIN. SAME FAULT RETURNS. PER SSM75712
UPDATED PCM SOFTWARE AND RESET FAULTS.

We had our 22' HSE delivered today, 70 miles on it. Had software update notifications throughout the day, scheduled one for 11:30 tonight. My wife was driving on the way home, sitting at red light and stalled. Same time the update required screen came up on Pivi. She panicked as people behind her were honking their asses off.

Will have to keep an eye on errrrr after the update.

Hi, my dealership had to update the power control module (PCM) which is not something that can be updated through Pivi. If it happens again, you should make an appointment with your dealer. If you can’t get an appt for awhile, I suggest turning off the start stop to avoid stalling again
