2022 S R-Dynamic Heated Steering Wheel
Found a good deal on a 2022 Discovery but it's the most oddly optioned one I've ever seen. It has the I6, 2 speed transfer case, electric third row, heated front seats, sound system, heated windshield, but shockingly no heated steering wheel or rear zone climate control. I was certain that a heated steering wheel was packaged with the heated windshield but apparently it isn't. You can see the icon for the heated steering wheel but it isn't lit up. I sent a company in the UK an e-mail about adding the feature but they were mum on details as they only do the work their self. Is there any chance it's a feature that can be activated with a GAP tool? It's really the only deal breaker as I don't need the rear climate zone but I've had a heated steering wheel on even economy cars so not having it on a Land Rover will bug me endlessly.
Heated steering wheel can be retrofitted, but you need the GAP tool to change the CCF files, and you need to buy a new steering wheel with the heater element, switch pack (they all have the steering wheel light, but not the functionality, which is why you need a new switch pack), and at least on the Defender (I assume the D5 is the same), a new wiper/turn signal stalk assembly because the clock spring is built-in to the assembly. It is possible, and it doesn't look super difficult if you're mechanically minded, and it definitely isn't cheap.
I'm sure you can enable the heated steering wheel with the GAP tool. I'm sure your 2022 has the digital buttons. There's probably only one part for the right side buttons and the truck just lights up whatever is appropriate or configured. It's likely you'll have to swap out the steering wheel for a heated unit unless JLR built it with one for some reason. There might be other parts/wiring required though.

You can buy a retrofit kit from Hunter's Prestige:

$2000? I can get some seriously good polar guide gloves for that much, which can be used for other purposes too!

Thanks for all the feedback. I was really wanting a blue one like the one I mentioned here but I found a grey one that is fully optioned for a bit better deal I'll probably go with. I just feel like I will regret not having the heated steering wheel every time I get in it in the cold.

It seems every LR I looked at was oddly optioned.
My 2020 Discovery Landmark has some upscale items and lacks some things that were in my 2010 Mazda 3 GT.
Only thing I can figure is being built around covid time the factory probably just threw together some cars with what ever they had available just to keep the lots full. I can't imagine someone would order one with the heated windshield and power third row but not heated steering wheel. In fact, I am pretty positive the heated windshield was packaged with the heated washer jets and steering wheel which further confirms that Discovery was most likely a parts bin special.
