Default 2022 and Sunblind Gesture Control - Missing? Weird

Hi. We are selling our 2019 Disco 5 HSE Lux LOADED TD6- new engine. 40k miles. I got a used 2022 Disco 5 R Dynamic HSE. There is the gesture control panel on the upper roof console panel - BUT it doesn't seem to work.

The hard button works for the sunblind. but no gesture control.

I don't see the sunblind gesture control in the owners' manual mentioned. And it is not on the window sticker. The tailgate gesture control is listed on the window sticker .

If this a faulty gesture control? Or did 2022 not have the option? And if it is not "on " the car why did they not simply put in the console with the sunglass holder ( my preference). I have the sunblind gesture control on our 2021 Jaguar f-pace - can live without it.

Thanks for any help

Thanks. It’s weird. It has the upper roof counsel that has the gesture control black plastic window. But it actually does not have a gesture control. Unfortunately I prefer the sunglass holder anyway. Interestingly, the gesture control is on my 21 jaguar F pace. And is available on the F pace as an option still for 2023. But it’s not available on the discovery. And it sounds like they use the same center consuls but did not actually install the gesture control for the Sunblind in 2022 and beyond discovery five

Did any Disco V have sunblind gesture control? My 2018 HSE just has buttons. I've not seen it on a Disco V

The black panel on the Disco's was usually for the infrared for the rear seat entertainment, certainly in my 2019 it was, we have a FFRR now and it has the genture sunblind and it does look the same, if you drop the light unit down you can see if there is a sensor in there, it's like a metal sensor and not what I was expecting.

Agreed. In my 2018 that black panel has the IR lights for the rear seat entertainment headphones.

In the 2021 and current Jaguar F-Pace that is the gesture control for the sunblind. It does to be the exact same upper console. But there is no evidence that Disco 5s have ever had gesture control. Weird. But I guess it makes sense that the space was used for something else. I prefer in any case the sunglass holder. Although with rear entertainment IR transmitters makes sense.
