Default AC Recharge Port Not Standard?

So, the Discovery uses R1234yf Refrigerant. Why? Is it common in GB? Does it provide any benefit other than to sellers and Range Rover dealers?

R1234yf is supposed to be more environmentally friendly and was required by the EU on all cars and trucks from 2015 (I believe) on. Land Rover didn't see any point in having different systems for different markets which would require more parts to be produced. A lot of manufacturers have switched or are as new models come out. R1234yf is the new standard.
