No place to attach “three dot sticker” to front of boat. Does anybody have a workaround for Advanced Tow Assist requiring the “three dot sticker” target to work? I tried everything, including a strong 36” tall monitor mount with c-clamp to attach to trailer tongue to put the target in the required zone. Discovery doesn’t recognize it and keeps popping up trailer screen but then wants to calibrate every time and when I can’t calibrate, it still pops up messages wanting the target in place and all camera functions are backwards and distant view so harder than backing a trailer with a normal car without Tow Assist.
In the demo video, they have the sticker on a plastic plate attached to the bow of the boat. A plastic mounting plate is nice because you can move it to another trailer pretty easily, but you're still going to need to find a practical mounting solution. I've stuck mine on a similar plate as my trailer has diamond-plate where the sticker should go, and it wouldn't stick by itself (plate is mounted with 3M auto tape for molding). Good luck.
Has anyone successfully calibrated Advanced Tow Assist?
I recently tried again after buying a monitor stand with c clamp mount and put the three dot sticker in the orange calibration box and it never would accept it. Tried moving it around, different angles and quadrants of the orange box. Finally gave up. Multiple attempts over six months and never got it to work. I wonder if other vehicles like Ford pickups with similar assist have to have special calibration. Seems useless unless you have a box trailer of a certain size. Would hope somehow LR could update the software and delete the “sticker” necessity but I figure the whole system is based on that so I doubt I can ever use it.
Thanks for your reply Jim. Sucks that we paid for this option and it is worthless. Not that I need help backing up a trailer but it would be nice to know if there are other trailer assist features we are missing out on because you can't complete the trailer setup without going through this calibration step.

i think the sticker is not just to calibrate but has to be in place all the time for the camera to track its movements. I asked LR Corporate and they said contact service department where I bought it and service manager said no solution unless I made some type of bracket for the trailer. That’s when I came up with the monitor stand idea. Tall vesa monitor stand for a computer monitor from Amazon. Strong c clamp is solid when clamped on trailer tongue frame and sturdy 35+” tall pole seemed to be the solution, but I would only use to back up and not out driving. But after no luck calibrating I gave up.

If interested, here’s the Amazon link for the monitor stand I got. Works well attaching to boat trailer but, as discussed, still no calibration with three dot sticker...

I have mine on a tandem box trailer.
The problem is that the sticker is right on the lower limit of the sighting box and most of the time its not picked up. This is a real nuisance as almost every time the trailer is connected it wants to recalibrate which means I constantly have the calibration messages on the screen and no clear view of the trailer.
I have on occasions had the system calibrated correctly and then it works well with plenty of room around the car, but real caution needs to be applied if backing using the rotary **** in a tight situation as the nose of the car needs plenty of room.
When calibrated and steering using the steering wheel the guide lines are helpful.
Is it possible to have the green sighting box moved down?
The alignment of the camera is correct.
