Here is a potential cause ( and yes, I have seen this on RR as well ).
Under the seat there is a connector, that may get bad contacts when moving the seat forward / backwards, or a person jumps on the seat quick and hard.
Disconnect the batteries and let it for a few hours to "drain" - may not be necessary, but is safer. Look for the connector, kinda in the middle, under the seat. Disconnect, and have an electrical cleaning spray, and a electrical lubricant spray. Clean it / lubricate it. Check the harness to see if it is pinched or has some cuts. Put them all back, and in theory, you should be ok.
Now, if the issue comes back, it may be expensive to get it fixed at the dealership. If it was the airbag, you would have felt it by now ... Probably the steallership will say that is the airbag, and will charge you an arm and a leg. I hope my procedure works for you - it did for me.

Update;
Since the car is a CPO, I dropped off the D5 at the local dealer for troubleshooting. This was on Feb 12th (2.5 weeks and counting).
Apparently, the vehicle needs a new occupancy sensor and some firmware upgrade to make everything happy. New sensor has been installed but the D5 is refusing to accept the firmware and this issue is being escalated to "engineering".
More to come.
