Default Anyone towed at max capacity?

I have the TD 6 and looking at a 28ft Mako boat that will be at max towing. Wondering if anyone has been close and now it handles and what your mpg is like

I just posted a thread showing my 23' center console. It's not maxed out, but I will say backing down a gravel ramp is interesting. Even with the disco at nearly 2-1/2 tones the boat gets it sliding pretty easily on the gravel.

Well we don’t have a gravel ramp. A standard concrete one. And wondering how it towed down the road. The boat I’m looking at is a 2006 Mako 252 which is a 25’ twin engine and 4300lbs dry weight not including trailer and fuel and gear etc.

You'll be at 6500 pretty quickly with a trailer and 200 gallons of fuel. I would make sure you have electric over hydraulic brakes before hooking up. The disco only weighs in at around 4900 lbs and a steep wet ramp could become a problem without brakes on the trailer.

As far as pulling it, are you on flat terrain or hilly. I live in central Virginia with a lot of hills and I think it would be a hard pull at highway speed with that boat and trailer. I also notice the car gets pushed more from wind and cornering forces than my old pickup did.

I tow a 25ft Sea Craft with twin 150 4 strokes. Truck scale has it at 6900lbs light. With a full load of fuel and gear its probably close to 7400 lbs. I’ve towed this rig with a Chevy 1500 PU, A Tahoe, and a V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee . The DIscovery tows much better than all and its Gas. The truck is steady , sure footed on highway, and has more power than all the V8’s mentioned. Put it in S mode which changes the gear ratio a bit and I can pull it at 75 mph no problem. My trailer has disc brakes on both axels and I have a lot of experience towing. It’s not a 3/4 ton diesel pickup and I dont expect it to be. It’s more than capable of towing my boat 2 or 3 times a year 200 miles to the keys and back. Boat ramps are no problem. Forget about fuel economy in the Gas D5. Diesel is probably a little better. Don’t over think it. It’s the best towing rig in its class.

Thank you so much! I have a lot of towing experience and not afraid to keep it slow the farthest it would ever go is about 35miles. I’m looking at a 25ft sea pro with twin 200s and from the bay house to the ramp is about a mile. Was worried about hitch bounce and weight as well on those airbags but thank you

If your trailer is set up properly you shouldn't have any hitch bounce. The Air suspension is self leveling so it self adjusts to the correct ride height regardless of tongue weight. This pic is when I towed with my first Discovery 2018. I have lift rods on my 19 and 33inch tires and it tows great.

The boat I’m looking at buying is a Robalo 2520 that’s a pretty heavy boat. The sea pro deal didn’t work out. I guess I knew more about boats then he was hoping. Loaded with fuel and twin 150s it’s about 6000lbs not including everything else. It’s a 7500lb two at max by my guess with trailer. With all the gear and everything I could be right at the 7700lb max of the diesel, which I have NO idea why the diesel is less.
