Hence why I said "allows" and not "requires."

It is cheaper to produce red turn signals, as they can use the same bulbs. LEDs aren't immune, either. The L663 for example, has red LEDs regardless if you have the clear or red taillights. Red LEDs are cheaper than white or multi-color. If you're an OEM, and a large percentage of cars are going to be NAS spec, it's a no-brainer to save some money by making identical lights with cheaper bulbs/LEDs for NA, which is usually an automaker's largest market. Saving a few cents per car adds up when you're selling hundreds of thousands throughout a product cycle.

Not necessarily. Every Land Rover has a different part number for US spec taillights compared to ROW.

I wish dealerships and shops would as in tune as this group. Happy to share any findings I had with my ccf edits and front and taillight conversions.

Oh, I am very interested. I was just out in the garage taking panels off to look at the wiring for the body and tailgate lights. I got one of the tailgate units out to test and found that only the running light illumination works and nothing else. All the wires are present in the tailgate harness. I'm still tracing that up and into the back to see if the DI wire is present at the tailgate harness connector or if I'll have to run it from the BCM from scratch.

I had played with the CCF for the rear lights to see if I could get anything new happening back there, but based on the tailgate light test I think the fed spec lights are neutered from the factory in addition to missing the DI wire. I'll get the body side light out for a similar test this weekend.

Our 2018 HSE Lux has the old style like you show above, but they're red on the bottom instead of white. They're the Dynamic spec MY17 lights unless I'm mistaken. What I'd really love to upgrade to are the UK/EU spec lights with the orange animated DI. I've seen the chinese upgrade kits, but I'm skeptical they'll have very high quality or longevity.

I can vouch for the Chinese ones. Valero makes the casings and the HCM is Land Rover. I ordered some from RDCustoms and they came straight from China. Avoid RDCustoms terrible support and they have no idea what they are selling. Ask for part numbers or any specifics and you will get silence.

My tail lights are also Chinese special. What’s interesting my OEM lights have connections for Lin/DCM but are not used.

Have you tried changing the ccf to EU market lights ? If you have the Lin pin I bet you have lots of options.

Yeah, I've got the service manual and those diagrams. I don't see where the LIN bus connects to the tail lights... Just GND, tail pwr, brake/DI combo and the feedback wire. I'm also missing the DI wire from the body harness like you are in post #5.
