Called my local dealer in B.C. Canada and they said not available in Canada until early 2019 and that there would be a dealer charge, but they don't know what it is yet.

Sounds like my dealer didn’t know they were supposed to charge. Oops 😬

Same with us. We ordered our 19 the day orders opened up. Everything was on paper, no configurator. Anyway, we were promised that AirPlay was included in our build even though there was no price specified. Vehicle was delivered without it, but it was added at no cost a couple weeks later.

Glad it worked out for you, we should have requested Carplay when we ordered and likely would have had the same experience. However going forward I would suspect that dealers will charge for this option to be installed on D5s. I do like the idea of better phone/vehicle integration, as it beats the clunky systems auto manufacturers tried to implement over the years.

That said Carplay seems to work really well with iOS 12, but with my wife's iPhone X on iOS 11 still it seems to drop out at times. I have the same phone, but upgraded to iOS12.

Just had my 2017 hse lux go into santa monica land rover for the leaking wind screen. They quoted me $99 to add the smartphone pack and i said yes should get it back in a few days.

Carplay is only through the lightning cable.

Finally had the time to reschedule and I called today. I am booked for the 21st to go from 18b to the latest, (is it still 18c or has a new one come out? ) and get the smartphone pack.
Last week my screen froze while on a phone call, couldn't hang up (the other person did eventually) or make anything on the screen work. Was totally frozen. I was almost at my destination so I took a video of the frozen screen and me touching it and nothing happening.
Will see if they charge me.

We had this happen once. The only thing that remedied it was to turn off the car, exit and lock it, unlock it and restart it. A simple off/on while still in the car didn't do it.

I went into a store and when I came out and restarted it was fine. So far these random things have happened on short drives so it hasn't been too much of a pain. But one of these days going to have it happen when about to go on a longer drive and no time to let the car shut off for 10 minutes.
