I asked my friend who is a tech if it’s possible to get an update and not add CarPlay, his words exactly:

”When we do a phase 4 update it is included to the update. Free”

Can someone tell me which version I have? This doesn’t look like anyone else’s. I have an appointment next Wednesday to get have some stuff done and updating the SW to Phase 4 is one of them.

2017 Disco HSE with App version: “20.14-1165” from the Navigation settings.

Got my phase 4 update today to fix a 'not online' issue. Haven't picked it up yet.
But I don't even know what CarPlay is, or is for.

You will have Google Maps and Waze and Pandora etc. It’s great!

Can iPhone do all this via bluetooth or does it need a cable connection?

Cable but BMW says it’s new infotainment on their X7 can do Bluetooth. No one else yet can do it Bluetooth

Got my 2017 Discovery V back yesterday. Upgraded to new software version (exact same version as shown at the start of this thread), but it appears that CarPlay is not available. When I cable the iphone to the vehicle, A screen pops up that should allow me to select In-touch Pro apps or CarPlay. Unfortunately the CarPlay selection is not there (not even in a greyed out status). i have a call into the dealer to ask if they did a complete download. In the meantime is there some setting I may need to change? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

I don't have 18C yet but maybe try these steps on your phone?
I am at 18b and and had to go into my phone and turn bluetooth messaging on

How do you get to this screen?
