I'm not sure unfortunately as it's my wife's phone (and car...)

EDIT: just asked her...she installed InControl, Route Planner, and Apps. Not sure which of these results in the CarPlay icon, sorry...

Picked up Disco V5 today, after they now downloaded the "smart phone pack" with version 18C. CarPlay works perfectly. The dealer definitely needs to select the "smart phone pack" option when doing the software upgrade.

FINALLY! After taking my 2017 Discovery HSE Lux in 6 times because of issues with their InControl system, Land Rover finally did the right thing. They got their license with Apple to make these vehicles have Apple Carplay. What I did noticed was their new interface for their Land Rover infotainment system graphic user interface (GUI). As for my issues, they're all gone. I used to have continuous discconections from my phone to car. InControl kept crashing. The screen was acting extremely slow with a long delay. At lease 3-5 constant system crashes a week. I like the new GUI though for Land Rover. Its very clean looking and easy to use. I didn't have to pay anything extra since my issues were continuous over the first year of having this vehicle. My vehicle was still under warranty. They also fixed how my accelleration was reacting when I would lightly press on the gas. Again, it's something that has to do with the software that run these cars. If you have a 2017 or 2018 Discovery, get the software updated.

New graphic user interface.

New graphic user interface.

Apple Carplay...FINALLY!

I find it unacceptable that the dealer wants to charge $300 for a simple software update. I got the car in August, and when I asked about the CarPlay, the sales person as well as the useless "delivery specialist" person, both mentioned that CarPlay is "coming soon", without mentioning the extra cost. This feature is closely related to safety, and Land Rover should offer the update to existing owners free, or for a nominal fee.

I was just informed that the dealer wants to charge $300 for the update that includes Apple CarPlay. I find this unacceptable. I got the car in August. Both, the sales person and the useless "delivery specialist" informed me that CarPlay is coming soon, without bothering to mention the extra cost. The CarPlay feature is closely related to safety and should be provided free of charge, especially given the price point of the car.

I am booked for November 6th at Land Rover of Norwood.
I am on 18b already and they say to go to 18c is about 1 1/2 hours.

I did have one major infotainment screen issue after going to 18b. One time I started the car and I had one screen, no nav, no sirius or internet functions, just am/fm radio and climate controls.
Turned it on and off but it did't come back, had to leave it off for awhile (1/2 hour?) and then it was back to normal.
I mentioned that so not sure if I will be charged.

Not to be a buzzkill, but people over on the Range Rover forums are already reporting major malfunction of car play. Apparently Land Rover claims another patch is on the way to fix it, do in November.

its a never ending string of bull crap with Land Rover now. I feel like they are back to p38 reliability on electronics..WHICH IS VERY BAD.

the L405 section on rangerovers.net.

there is a long CarPlay thread like this one, and some of the people who have it said it worked great for a little while and is beginning to be very buggy. They contacted landrover and apparently they are already working on a patch.

it just blows my mind how unreliable they are becoming.
