Default CARRS4x4 D5

My wife and I run a Land Rover repair shop in Huntington Beach, CA. We also sell parts and design/develop some of our own parts.

We have owned many rovers and were looking for an LR4 to replace my wife’s LR3. We try to own every model we work on so we can “practice” on our personal vehicles. The LR4 search dragged on for too long and as we have already done most of the major repairs on the LR4 (head gaskets and timing chains), we decided to get ahead of the curve and buy a 18’ D5.

Fully loaded HSE Lux, capability plus, heads up display, yada yada yada. The only thing we didn’t get was tow package and dynamic pack or black pack.

First thing I did was to buy a black grille and black side vents. I didn’t know, but the black pack and dynamic grills are different. By chance I bought he dynamic, way better!!!

just purchased:

After black grill and side vents:

Looks great, I really dislike chrome on the body. I don't know how many grills I have replaced on BMWs...

Thanks, my thoughts exactly.

My quest now is to replace all silver trim with black.

Hood and tailgate decals:

I would assume that some of the aftermarket folks will start producing replacements in black, however, there is always the pull it off, scuff it, paint it..

Yep, they are out there.

For the aftermarket letters: they don’t come with a captive board outline for the letters, they have a version of it, but not as precise as OEM.

I did aftermarket on my LR3 and they look good, but not perfect.

Didn’t want to chance it on the D5!

Picked up some dynamic pack bumper intake rakes off eBay for $46. Good fit and nice quality.

OK so if you have a repair shop:
What oil brand and model do you use or sell for the Disco V or LR4 with the 3.0 gas engine?
Seems tough to find the proper spec.
Thank you
