Default Cracked DPF

Wow just received news from my dealer that my 2018’s filter failed internally causing reduced filtration and the reason for my check engine light.

This is crazy to me considering it only has 45k miles and just a month and a half out of warranty.

Has anyone here ever heard of this or had it happen to them?

Ask them to remove the DPF system. They wont because it's a federally mandated emissions component and should be covered by warranty up to 8yr 80k miles .

Thanks for the Info @Chucktastic, I thought I had read somewhere about the federally mandated 8/80 warranty on emissions . The attached file is for 2017 and mine is a 2018 so I don't know if there is a difference. Seeing's how my CPO warranty has expired I really would like to do the DEF delete on this thing as my state doesn't require a sniff test yet. I've been looking on the F150 Powerstroke forums to get info on removing the DPF system.

The 8/80 is part of the Clean Air Act, see https://www.epa.gov/transportation-a...sportation-air

or 41 U.S.C § 7541(i)(2) for the legalese

After talking to Land Rover USA, and mentioning the Federal 8/80, they contacted the dealership. I drove away this morning with it and all work was covered under warranty.

That's really great to hear. It's a shame the dealer wouldn't do it on their own, but at least a call to JLR USA sorted things quickly.
