We have a 2019 Discovery Si6. Has anyone installed cross bars and a cargo box on the factory installed roof rails? If so, what manufacturers are compatible? Both Yakima and Thule 2019 fitting guides state their cross bars will not fit on the Discovery. Yakima may allow use of the Land Rover cross bars but not theirs.
I bought a set of gloss black roof rails, on eBay, and then sold the ABS roof inserts that come with Discovery cars not equipped with roof bars from the dealer. Selling the inserts (I forget the official name of those parts) covered most of the swap to the fixed rails. I also bought locking adjustable crossbars on eBay, and run a Yakima skybox (and also a cargo basket). The eBay crossbars are <$100. Everything I purchased on ebay looked identical to what you get from the dealership (I even bought a set of fixed running boards on ebay, and they are identical at a fraction of the dealer cost). I am super pleased with my setup, and its pretty quick to install/remove the locking crossbars when you aren't running attachments.
Thanks. The first Thule fitting guide I used stated they did not have cross bars that would work but subsequent inquiries to Thule pointed me to the same system you are using.
I bought a $110 set of crossbars on Ebay. They have worked perfectly, are very sturdy, and fit just right. It was nice to save $$$ and still get a good product. I loaded up a borrowed Thule pod onto it and drove 16 hours to the beach and back with no issues at all. The Thule allows you to adjust along the length where the clamps center and clamp down - it can fit a wide range of widths. The cross bars are adjustable width, so you can decide where you mount them on the roof. The front bar is shorter than the rear (the roof rails are curved and get bigger in the back)
