Default Crankshaft Pulley

Hey all, I have a '17 HSE TD6 with 112,250 miles. I'm doing the idler pulleys, water pump, timing belt, serp. belt and tensioner this Saturday as a part of routine maintenance, but wondering if I am in need of a crankshaft pulley? If this is a failing part does this mean I am setup for the crankshaft failure some folks have reported, or is the crankshaft pulley only really responsible for powering accessories? It visually looks like there is some play in the crankshaft pulley, but could also be an optical illusion, I'll capture a video later today. Is that part considered routine maintenance? From what I've read it seems like it is supposed to last the "life" of the engine... There are only sounds when the truck is idling, the sound does not get louder when accelerating. Thanks in advance!

I think the pulley is basically inert/passive. I can't see why it would need to be replaced unless it is damaged. I'm assuming it is removed to allow the cam belt cover to come off?

I replaced mine because it looked like it was wobbling, the new one looked exactly the same. Don't waste your money replacing it.

@RyanLR3 Thanks! That is good to know. I've been a little paranoid the last couple of days thinking this might be a larger issue, but glad to hear it doesn't appear to be anything. I'll keep you posted once I dig in on Saturday.

I definitely will do my best @gmfain ! You are the master of detailed tutorials, hoping to get on your level.

I will be tackling this job with the help of a mechanic friend who already had a set. I will let you know what set he has.

Well at least there's a ton of room in front and you don't have a fan to remove. I watched one video where the mechanic marked the crankshaft end and did not lock the flywheel. That would make the job even easier but it sounds a bit sketchy.
